LEVEL 3 THEORY - Effective April 2009, NCCP Level 3 Theory is no longer available. The COMPETITION-DEVELOPMENT MODULES replace this course in the new NCCP structure.
There are 6 modules in the Competition Development:
- Coaching and Leading Effectively (10 hours)
- Developing Athletic Abilities (9 hours)
- Leading Drug Free Sport (3.5 hours) –Not recommended
- Managing Conflict (4.5 hours)
- Prevention and Recovery (7.5 hours)
- Psychology of Performance (7 hours)
Prerequisite for registering for the Competition – Development courses is completion of two modules covered in the Competition – Introduction and Gymnastics Foundation courses. They are:
Making Ethical Decisions plus on line evaluation and Design a Basic Sport Program.
In addition to these two modules, coaches select 4 modules from the above list. Leading FDrug Free Sport is not recommended at this point by GCG. These modules are made available by Coaching Manitoba.
Coaching Manitoba plans to offer three modules in December and three modules in January. The dates will be posted on the coaching Manitoba website in the next few days on the NCCP Course Schedule page.
N.B. Completion of the Competitive Development modules as outlined above is a prerequisite for enrollment to the NCCP Level 3 Technical Course.
NCCP LEVEL 3 TECHNICAL COURSE - The level 3 technical course continues to be delivered in the present format as part of the coaching education at the Competition Stream - Competition Development context. The coach will be trained to prepare athletes for ongoing competitive involvement in sport. At this level, the coach will be expected to plan, conduct and evaluate a yearly training program for the athlete. This requires that the coach can implement training of the physiological elements, develop strategies for mental preparation, and teach and analyze advanced skills and strategies. The coach will be capable of preparing athletes for national level of competition. The coaches should be motivated to discover further professional development resources on her/his own.
