BECOME A COACH

Coaches are the backbone of any sport. Rhythmic Gymnastics Manitoba in partnership with Coaching Manitoba and Gymnastics Canada Coach Education provide training and certification opportunities for coaches. These opportunities are directed at ALL coaches from the beginner coach to the coach of the national team, from the recreational coach to high performance coach.

Rhythmic Gymnastics Manitoba can help you acquire the knowledge necessary to become rhythmic gymnastics coach in the area and level of your interest. In gymnastics sports, coaching is organized in two streams: community sport and competition. Community Sport coach can be trained at the initiation level and Ongoing Participation. Competitive coach is trained at the introduction, development or high performance. Community Sport Initiation and Competition Introduction levels are aquired through Gymnastics Foundation Course.

Coach training and certification in Canada is through the National Coaching Certification Program.

The National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP)

The National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) is a coach training and certification program for 66 different sports and is offered in both official languages across Canada. NCCP workshops are designed to meet the needs of all types of coaches, from the first time coach to the head coach of a national team. The NCCP is the recognized national standard for coach training and certification in Canada. As part of the program, all coaches are trained in ethical decision-making and sport safety.

The NCCP has undergone a number of changes in the recent years in order to fit with today’s coaching environment. There has been a shift in emphasis within the program from “what a coach knows” to “what a coach can do”. In other words, the new NCCP has shifted focus from a theory-based approach to a competency/outcomes-based approach.

For more details of the new NCCP, please click here.

Respect In Sport (RIS)

The Respect in Sport program is an online course that promotes the values of fair play in sport. The course is designed to assist coaches in identifying and dealing with abuse, neglect, harassment and bullying in sport. Sport Manitoba requires all coaches to complete the 3-hour online RIS Course in order to register as a coach with your Provincial Sport Organization. As such, RGM requires all coaches to complete the RIS program before beginning to coach. If you are primarily coaching Rhythmic Gymnastics, please register with our sport on the online RIS system.
